Update: Smarter, More Flexible Scoring for A1 Schreiben

Practicing for your Goethe A1 exam should be about building your confidence, not stressing over minor typos. We recently received feedback that the auto-grader for A1 Schreiben (Writing) exercises was being a bit too strict, and we completely agree.
The Issue
Previously, the scoring system required an exact, character-for-character match. For example, if the correct answer was "1. Dorfstraße", typing "1 Dorfstraße" (without the dot) or "1 dorfstraße" (with a lowercase 'd') would be marked incorrect, even though your answer was fundamentally right.
The Fix
We have updated the scoring logic to be much more forgiving and human-like. The system now intelligently ignores minor formatting differences, such as:
- Missing punctuation (like the dot after a number).
- Capitalization differences (e.g., "dorfstraße" vs. "Dorfstraße").
- Extra spaces at the beginning or end of your answer.
Your answers will now be graded on their actual content and meaning, not strict formatting.
What This Means for You
You can now focus entirely on learning the vocabulary and sentence structures without worrying about losing points for a missing period or a lowercase letter. Keep practicing with confidence!
